In partnership with Wayne State University Press, Ford House is hosting readings by contributors from the creative nonfiction anthology "Hadha Baladuna: Arab American Narratives of Boundary and Belonging," co-edited by Ghassan Zeineddine, Sally Howell, and Nabil Abraham. "Hadha Baladuna," which was recently recognized as a 2023 Michigan Notable Book Award selection, aims to provide an intimate glimpse(s) into the Arab American communities in the Detroit metropolitan region, including but not limited to those with cultural heritages originating from Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, and Yemen. Essays and poems by established and emerging writers from the region address a broad range of topics, including notions of identity, citizenship, religion, gender politics, family life, immigration, and exile, as well as the impact of the War on Terror, the refugee crisis, Islamophobia, and recent immigration restrictions on everyday life. There will be a limited number of copies available for purchase in The Shop at Ford House.
