Please join us in celebrating the launch of The Queen Next Door: Aretha Franklin, An Intimate Portrait by photojournalist Linda Solomon.
This incredible event will feature iconic Detroiters (as seen in the book), sharing their “RESPECT” for the Queen of Soul! Panelists include former Governor of Michigan James J. Blanchard, former Mayor of Detroit Dennis Archer, Aretha’s nieces Sabrina Vonne Owens and Cristal Franklin, as well as Aretha’s cousin and backup vocalist Brenda Corbett and sister-in-law Earline Franklin. Additionally, Aretha’s lifelong friends Beverly Bradley, Thelma Stubbs-Mitchell (sister of Levi Stubbs of the Four Tops), and Barbara Henderson (wife of Billy Henderson of the Spinners), among others, will join the discussion. The panel will be moderated by Carolyn Clifford, news anchor of Channel 7 Action News.
Each panelist will share their intimate stories describing Aretha’s influence in music, her devotion to Detroit, her dedication to civil rights, and personal tales and anecdotes about the Queen of Soul. This special afternoon will feature a choir performing Aretha’s hit songs, as well as a surprise guest vocalist. Paying homage to the Queen of Soul and her love for the pink Cadillac, Cadillac has generously sponsored this event and will provide a complimentary book to each event attendee.
This event is open to the public, but space is limited. Please RSVP through the ticketing link on the DIA's event page: https://www.dia.org/events/national-book-launch-queen-next-door-linda-so...
