64th Annual Michigan in Perspective: Local History Conference

The Historical Society of Michigan (HSM), the state’s oldest cultural organization, helps to connect Michigan’s past to students, educators, historical organizations, and the public through educational programs, conferences, publications, awards, workshops, referral services, networking opportunities, and support for local history organizations. Established in 1828, the Historical Society of Michigan is a member supported educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While not a part of state government, HSM is the official state historical society by law. The largest of our three conferences, the Local History Conference offers: 4 keynotes that cover a wide range of popular topics. 30 breakout sessions that address local and statewide history, preservation and archival matters, Michigan books and authors, historical individuals, cultural histories, how-to programs, history in the cultural arts, Great Lakes and maritime history, genealogy, and much more. Nearly 50 exhibitors/vendors for attendees to visit. A Friday Reception and a Saturday Gala. Two days full of "meet and greets," refreshments, and optional meals. This conference keeps growing each year…come see what all the excitement is about!
