Tess Akaeke Onwueme is an award-winning author and playwright whose works include Go Tell it to Women, Legacies and The Desert Encrouaches. An associate professor in the Department of English at Vassar College, she received her Ph.D. from the University of Benin in Nigeria.

Tess Onwueme easily stands out as the most prolific and outstanding female dramatist of the new generation of African writers. Her characters, who are simultaneously deeply rooted in humanity, nature, and African culture, exude confidence in their roles in society.
