Shirli Gibert’s book, From Things Lost, is a narrative of displacement, survival, and an unlikely friendship in the wake of the Holocaust, via an astonishing collection of letters discovered in a forgotten trunk. Israeli diplomat and educationalist Yitzchak Mayer’s story—a lyrical letter from a wife to her missing husband in 1943—recounts an unforgettable chapter in history with powerful contemporary relevance; a saga of desperation and people on the run searching for the safety that eludes them.

The festival bookshop, West End Lane Books, will have copies of From Things Lost and Silent Letter available and a signing table will be set up after the event.
