Join us for an evening with three wonderful Michigan poets as they share their newest work.
Kathleen McGookey will read from her new book Heart in a Jar. Her work has appeared in many anthologies and journals including Crazyhorse, Denver Quarterly, Epoch, Field, Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, and Quarterly West. She has received grants from the Arts Fund of Kalamazoo County, the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sustainable Arts Foundation. She lives in Middleville, Michigan, with her family.
Cindy Hunter Morgan will be sharing her new book Harborless. She teaches creative writing and book arts at Michigan State University. She is also the author of two chapbooks: "The Sultan, The Skater, The Bicycle Maker," which won The Ledge Press 2011 Poetry Chapbook Competition, and "Apple Season," which won the Midwest Writing Center’s 2012 Chapbook Contest, judged by Shane McCrae.
Nancy Nott has been writing poetry her whole life, but has only recently had the exciting experience of seeing her small chapbook published. While she loves to write, she has spent most of her life teaching literary analysis and writing to teens. Her students, her family, and nature provide the inspiration for many of her poems. Nancy would like to thank Elizabeth Kerlikowske, Kalamazoo Friends of Poetry, and Kathleen McGookey for their support and inspiration.
